DEEP CUTS Makes a Deep Impact

Deep Cuts Cupcakes
Deep Cuts Copies. Cupcakes. Champagne.

It's been a week since Deep Cuts made its first public appearances. This blog is a week late coming with all the details but you should see the picture taken of me on Monday. No, I'm not posting that one of me curled up in my favorite wingback chair, a hoodie pulled over my head, a box of Puffs at my side looking this side of death. Going into 3 weeks of a respiratory illness wiped me out and it's still wiping me out. I was hanging on through will-power and maybe book signing magic dust.

Let's start with a recap of the Mysterious Galaxy signing in San Diego last Saturday. We rolled out the red carpet on this one: specialty Deep Cuts cupcakes and cookies and champagne. Stephen Woodworth and Kelly Dunn joined me to represent Deep Cuts. And I asked local writer and friend Erik Williams to join us, the more the merrier. The four of did a pre-signing panel discussion about our books and the horror genre itself. Almost all of our San Diego Kickstarter pledgers showed up for this event and picked up copies while there. We had a nice size crowd and it was fun to hang out and talk with everyone afterwards. Thanks to the staff at MG: Rob, David, Bunny and their queen of books who makes it all happen Maryelizabeth Hart. A shout out to my champagne girls Lauren Bennetts and Amber Quinnell. And a special  thank you to my husband Greg who keeps it all running for me.

Talking books and the horror genre. On my Kindle there's a pic of Angel and Chris.

Don't let empty seats fool you. Lots of late comers chose to stand.

I've included pictures. At the MG signing you'll see I put up a picture of Angel Leigh McCoy and Chris Marrs, my co-editors. It just didn't seem right to roll out the book in a big way and not have these ladies in attendance. And a book is only as good as its publisher--Evil Jester Press and we heartily thank Peter Giglio and Charles Day for making it happen.

Deep Cuts: Stories that Go to the Heart of Horror
Warning: Cuts Are Deeper Than They Appear

Dark Delicacies's Del Howison with (l-r Kelly Dunn, E.S. Magill, Stephen Woodworth, Lisa Morton

Sunday found us at Dark Delicacies in Burbank. We had a sampling of everyone in the Deep Cuts antho: I as one of the editors; Lisa Morton who wrote the Intro; Stephen Woodworth as a story contributor; and Kelly Dunn as a recommendation contribution. We signed books as customers munched on cookies and champagne. I was deeply honored to have in attendance one of my top 5 writing heroes Dennis Etchison, who brought along one of my favorite writers and people Pete Atkins. John Palisano and Eric Guignard stopped by to congratulate us on the release of the book. But it was getting the chance to hook up with Ann Laymon and Kelly that made the afternoon for me.Thank you to Del and Sue for having us sign at their fabulous bookstore.

With our next signing date next Sunday, February 24, 2:30 PM, at Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach, it's time to get myself to get some of that mojo working. The line up will include Nancy Holder, Lisa Morton, Stephen Woodworth, and myself.

If you missed us before, come see us at Redondo Beach. The pre-signing discussion is worth it. Plus I'll still bring cupcakes, cookies and champagne.

This was our actual mileage when we pulled into our driveway after getting back from Dark Delicacies.
